Green Building
Coastal is beginning a process of moving into the realm known as "green building." As a large part of this effort our dedicated staff of the Green Solutions Division has been working hard to develop a suite of offerings for home and business owners interested in building\renovating their homes and businesses in truly environmentally-friendly ways.
A large part of whether or not to "go green" concerns the cost premiums associated with green (versus traditional) building options. Coastal is presently working on putting the numbers together for a range of green vs. traditional projects, so please continue to visit our website for updates to our Green Building section of our website, or contact us directly for more personalized service.
Here is what we've come up with so far:
Green Kitchens – kitchens can make or break a home, at least as concerns aesthetics and utility. Interestingly enough, it appears that re-facing, renovating, or building a new kitchen space can be done in an environmentally-friendly way without sacrificing aesthetics, utility, or your budget. Here are some green kitchen ideas:
Polished concrete countertops

Recycled glass tile

Sustainably-harvested wood floors & cabinets

Low-VOC and VOC-free paints & stains

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) make for indoor air quality issues, and prolonged exposure to them can lead to health problems; fortunately, low and no-VOC finishing options exist for your home and office
Just imagine a fresh coat of paint without the heavy paint smell…yeah, that is the low or no-VOC piece |
